SpaceX Falcon 9 Successfully Launches 21 Starlink Satellites, Plans More Missions This Weekend
SpaceX's Falcon 9 successfully launched 21 Starlink satellites, expanding internet coverage in high-latitude regions. Two more launches are scheduled for Sunday.

On a recent Saturday, a historic event unfolded at Cape Canaveral as a Falcon 9 rocket launched into the early morning sky, successfully deploying 21 Starlink satellites, 13 of which were equipped with direct-to-cell capability. This marked the 187th launch of SpaceX's Starlink internet relay satellites, further expanding their growing network.
Expanding Communication Services
The Starlink satellites are tailor-made to provide communication services in high-latitude regions that are not serviced by traditional geosynchronous satellites. With this latest launch, the total number of Starlinks deployed to date stands at a remarkable 6,854, of which 6,239 are presumed to be operational, as reported by space statistician Jonathan McDowell.
Upcoming Launches
This weekend's launch is just the beginning for SpaceX, as they have two more launches scheduled for Sunday.
The Falcon 9 rocket will launch once from the Kennedy Space Center, aiming to deploy an additional 23 Starlinks into orbit. Simultaneously, another launch will take place from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, with the mission of transporting Norway Space's twin Arctic Satellite Broadband Mission relay stations into a highly elliptical orbit.
Thrilling Launch at Cape Canaveral
The Falcon 9 rocket's ascent into the gray pre-dawn sky was a breathtaking sight. As the rocket powered through the dense lower atmosphere, it created a stunning visual display, compressing the air ahead of it before piercing through the clouds and disappearing from view.
